It was one of those days.
I knew nothing else would help except a really long walk. Ten miles to get to work and I was determined to find clarity about what to do next, and if the six years of storms were finally over. The hot sun felt great on my face, and I felt invigorated. I paused for a moment and took this picture to save for later. I had gone down this path so many times before, but this time something felt different. A long, narrow road against a clear, bright blue sky; nothing really spectacular but I felt a sense of peace wash over me.
I had nearly finished the three hour walk when my husband decided to rescue me. Climbing into the car, I told him, "No word from God today, but I took a great photo!" It was when I showed John my phone and saw the photo again that I got my aha moment! God did show up! It was as if He was telling me, "Maria, you are on the path! Stop looking anywhere else; it is right in front of you! Yes, the path has been full of trials but you are becoming stronger. The clouds are gone for now but they will come back for you to keep you growing. Stay strong and keep going. I will show you the way; so have my peace as you go."
I am exactly where I am supposed to be. Life will always be messy, difficult, and full of challenges! I just need to remember to take a deep breath, trust in God's promises, and continue to go on long walks to hear what He has to say. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
